EDITOR'S DESK
A message from the executive editor: TODAY is a part of the
University of Mary Washington’s past. The magazine, called TODAY for more
than 35 years, has a new name that more accurately reflects what it is – the
University of Mary Washington Magazine. After considerable discussion
regarding name and design options, the magazine's editorial board decided
the time to make a change is now – as Mary Washington concludes the
celebration of an era and looks forward to a new one. The magazine and its
staff anticipate many bright tomorrows.

Dear Editors,
Your centennial issue (Winter 2008) arrived this week and I can’t wait another
moment to express my absolute delight and amazement to you all. What an
outstanding job you have accomplished in putting together such a beautiful and
delightfully informative publication.
The cover design combining the two different eras showing students walking past
Trinkle was fabulous. What a great shot! Congratulations to the photographer and
Photoshop expert on melding the two into a cohesive and eye-catching picture!
That cover just made you want to hurry and open the magazine to find out
how the photo was done and who those serious gals were marching in
black and white up the campus road!
Your stories, including the ones about the first men on campus (which
was hilarious), the four generations of the family of Annie Morris, the
photo archives, James Farmer, Bill Crawley’s visit with the oldest alumna,
Pauline Cosby Clements ’23 – and all the others were so interesting and
beautifully written.
The whole layout, color and paper quality, and placement of articles
was top-rate.
You have done a fantastic job. Congratulations to one and all.
Sincerely,
Suzanne Ross Bevan ’80

Dear Editors,
Last week, I received the latest issue of University of Mary Washington Magazine.
What a refreshing change! In the past, I would glance through the seemingly
repetitive articles about administration members and dry financial news and discard
the magazine immediately. But this issue was packed with cool photos and studentinterest
stories that made me smile, reminisce, and laugh out loud. I read it almost
cover to cover. Nice job!
Sincerely,
